From Ritual to Myth: Apocalypse Now

Sympathy for the Devil
From Kilgore to Kurtz
Mythos of Fight or Flight?

  1. AN was one of the worst films I've ever seen. Never understood the hype.

  2. I never understood "The Terror" in the French Revolution either. Kurtz was a 'mission' fundamentalist. Winning was everything. It knew no bounds.

"I had to be restrained, because I was doing too much good."
    Kurtz, "Heart of Darkness"

He held no "ironic distance" from the mission, because to him, it wasn't "ironic"... it was "necessary". It established "authority" and the "law". As Machiavelli said, "It is better to be feared than loved". Can you make yourself feared? Or would you wish to be loved? Most choose the latter.

    3. So far, I know only one movie where truth of war are really truthfull.

Chinese "In the name of honor". About one who survived ONE from whole battalion. Then gone through all war(s) till the very end. Then returned to dig up his forgotten comrades.

That one you stated, is just mere romantisation. Of war. And war atrocities.

    4. Nobody ever fights for "the truth of war", but either for the "romance" or "gain" of it, or the need to prevent loss or just survive.

Power and control is the ONLY reason for war and neither are ever justified. Except in true self defense.

BTW, the genocide by Zionist butchers in Gaza is also NOT self defense of the Zionist state.

    11. You should re-read Aristophanes "The Birds". It's very prophetic and apropos "the internet" today....

POPS Take your advice? In what way?

PISTHETAERUS In what way? Well, firstly, do not fly in all directions with open beak; it is not dignified. Among us, when we see a thoughtless man, we ask, "What sort of bird is this?" and Teleas answers, "'Tis a man who has no brain, a bird that has lost his head, a creature you cannot catch, for it never remains in any one place."

EPOPS By Zeus himself! your jest hits the mark. What then is to be done?

      PISTHETAERUS Found a city.

EPOPS We birds? But what sort of city should we build?

PISTHETAERUS Oh, really, really! 'tis spoken like a fool! Look down.

      EPOPS I am looking.

      PISTHETAERUS Now look upwards.

      EPOPS I am looking.

      PISTHETAERUS Turn your head round.

EPOPS Ah! 'twill be pleasant for me, if I end in twisting my neck!

      PISTHETAERUS What have you seen?

EPOPS The clouds and the sky.

PISTHETAERUS Very well! is not this the pole of the birds then?

      EPOPS How their pole?

PISTHETAERUS Or, if you like it, the land. And since it turns and passes through the whole universe, it is called, 'pole.'(1) If you build and fortify it, you will turn your pole into a fortified city.(2) In this way you will reign over mankind as you do over the grasshoppers and cause the gods to die of rabid hunger.

f(1) From (the word meaning) 'to turn.'

f(2) The Greek words for 'pole' and 'city' only differ by a single letter.

      EPOPS How so?

PISTHETAERUS The air is 'twixt earth and heaven. When we want to go to Delphi, we ask the Boeotians(1) for leave of passage; in the same way, when men sacrifice to the gods, unless the latter pay you tribute, you exercise the right of every nation towards strangers and don't allow the smoke of the sacrifices to pass through your city and territory.

f(1) Boeotia separated Attica from Phocis.

EPOPS By earth! by snares! by network!(1) I never heard of anything more cleverly conceived; and, if the other birds approve, I am going to build the city along with you.

f(1) He swears by the powers that are to him dreadful.

    1. Wish I could comment, but I no longer study foreign navies. Back in my day (early 80s)under Reagan, we were always trying to plan for a 600 ship Navy... but with limited budgets, it was always a Hi-Lo mix based on having 15 CVBGs and enough "Lo" frigates to protect the supply lines (each CVBG needing 5 or 6 URGs - Underway Replenishment Groups) that would keep the bombs and jet-fuel coming. We also needed new AE (Ammunition Ships) to handle tomahawk missile containers - the largest piece of ordinance at the time that didn't fit into the old AE elevators. So "absolute numbers" mean little to me. And as I learned later, there are only two types of ships in the end... submarines and targets.

    3. Yes, the homosexual male's brain develops in the female pattern as testosterone can penetrate the blood-brain barrier... and estrogen can regulate it"

      from Google AI:

      Direct Effects:
Estrogen can directly influence the cells that make up the BBB (endothelial cells), affecting their structure and function.
      Indirect Effects:
Estrogen can also affect the BBB through its influence on other cells and signaling pathways in the brain.
      Varying Effects:
The impact of estrogen on the BBB can vary depending on factors like the type of estrogen, the dose, the individual's hormonal status, and the presence of other factors like inflammation or injury.
      3. Potential Negative Impacts:
      Increased Inflammation:
      .
In some cases, estrogen may contribute to inflammation or interact with inflammatory processes in the brain, potentially impacting the BBB.
      Increased Permeability:
      .
Some studies have shown that estrogen can increase BBB permeability in certain contexts, though this is not always the case.
      4. Importance of Context:
      Hormone Replacement Therapy:
The timing and type of hormone replacement therapy can affect how estrogen impacts the BBB.
      Individual Variability:
The effects of estrogen on the BBB can differ between individuals due to differences in genetics, health status, and other factors.
In summary: Estrogen plays a complex role in the BBB, with both protective and potentially negative effects. Understanding how estrogen interacts with the BBB is crucial for understanding brain health, particularly in the context of hormone fluctuations and hormone replacement therapy.

I'm pretty sure that the "pretense" that they still work is what allows them to continue to urge Kyiv to keep on fighting.

      Google AI:
The international rules-based order refers to a system of international relations underpinned by established norms, treaties, and agreements that aim to guide state behavior and promote cooperation. It is built upon principles like multilateralism, peaceful dispute resolution, and respect for national sovereignty. While often associated with the post-World War II era and institutions like the UN, its interpretation and application are subjects of ongoing debate and geopolitical competition.

    1. The Reset came after 2003 when Putin caught on to the scam/ conspiracy to sell all Russia's oil to American Big Oil and started kicking the American's OUT of the "great Russia Sell-off to Western Oligarchy".

Putin realized it was better for Russian Oligarchs to prosper than US and European ones.

The Russian reset was an attempt by the Obama administration to improve relations between the United States and Russia in 2009–2013.

    4. Yes, an attempt to trick Putin into believing that he could still join their club (after 2003). He wasn't fooled. The US Intelligence Community was still "capacity building" in all the former republics sponsoring Colour Revolutions in former Sovier Republics.

    5. So why did Trump defund USAID (the CIA's colour revolution capacity building organization)? THAT represents a 'real" reset. Not a stupid plastic reset button from Hillary Clinton.

  24. //Technofeudalism is a term used to describe a modern economic system where big technology companies have power similar to feudal lords in the past. Instead of land, these companies control digital platforms, data, and online markets. People and smaller businesses rely on these platforms, just like peasants once relied on feudal lords for land and protection.

    What a BS.

But well, from one who dunno history.

    O.K.
    Quick introduction to you.
There was Early feudalism, middle and Late. What you refer too, that is reference to LATE one. Which practically turned into well known to us capitalism. But with retroactive (from slavery time) GOVERNMENT protected right of owning over people.

    And here is definition.
Feudalism was a social and political system in medieval Europe (roughly 9th to 15th centuries) characterized by a hierarchical structure based on land ownership and reciprocal obligations. At its core, it involved a relationship between lords, who owned land, and vassals, who were granted land (fiefs) in exchange for service and loyalty.

    And here is your BS.
Technofeudalism has some similarities to old feudal systems:

Control over platforms – Large companies own and manage platforms like social media, e-commerce, and cloud computing, deciding who can participate.
Dependence on Big Tech – Businesses and workers must follow platform rules to earn money, similar to how peasants depended on lords.
Data ownership – Tech companies collect and use personal data, which gives them more power over users.
Limited competition – A few companies dominate entire industries, making it hard for smaller businesses to compete.

As easy can be seen -- there is NOTHING in common.
Where's vassals? Whom they pledge loyalty???)))))
In our times when you can register at any platform, any time.
