“They saw their injured country's woe;
The flaming town, the wasted field;
Then rushed to meet the insulting foe;
They took the spear, - but left the shield.”

The Difference Between the Old '68 New Left and the 2011 Progressive Left
- Doing Good for Other's Under Capitalism is Preventing Us from Implementing Real Solutions. We Don't Know What those Real Solutions are, but We Need to Topple the Capitalist System so that We Can Find Out.
I find this video hilarious. The so-called "progressive movement" reveals that it is NOT progressive at all. They don't want to keep moving forward in its'increasing "kinder/gentler" form, they want capitalism to move "backwards" towards what it was like before they "socialized" and "culturalized" capitalism.
They no longer want carbon credits and offsets to offset the costs of pollution, they want to do away with technology ALL TOGETHER. They want consumers to FEEL guilty and abandon "consumerism". But they've NOTHING to replace it with. Nothing. So why does ANYONE listen to them. They are "pure nihilism".
Slavoj Žižek -- the same fellow who was leading the chant about having sex with animals in NYC.
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
ReplyDeleteIn '68 it was Sartre and Marcuse. In 2011, it's Zizek.

New Left politics was "tragedy". Progressivism is pure "farce."
