  1. all art is political.

The statement is gratuitous, FJ... having no "real" value for life. It's also incomplete ... for, not just art, but everything - be it a gesture, a word, an action - is political. So, if one still wants to use your expression, then everything is art. Again true but gratuitous.

Actually, the problem is inherent in modernity, where everything has become a sign for something larger, paralyzing thought and action. Given time I would like to get back to it in more detail. Thanks!

  4. btw - I wasn't trying to make any philosophical or psychological point with this post. I was merely trying to convey the message that I saw the movie "aNONYmous" this past weekend and now highly recommend that all my friends see it!

  5. btw2 - You might want to click on the "Dali" link at the "endless enigma" post for a lecture on the problem not only of "modernity", but of human cognition, generally.

  7. Fear of pain can certainly obscure the "desire" (if there is such a thing) for a "WORTHwhile" death. Self-surpassing sacrifice for the big Other.

  11. btw, i just saw this at Merriam-Webster, while checking the word...

Uncanny is currently in the top 1% of lookups and is the 283rd most popular word on Merriam-Webster.com.

A green arrow indicates a fast mover: this word increased significantly in lookups over the past seven days.

Guess others share in your interest... :)
