“They saw their injured country's woe;
The flaming town, the wasted field;
Then rushed to meet the insulting foe;
They took the spear, - but left the shield.”
Sartre: "Friendship can also become totalitarian."Hmmmm....Anyway, I haven't read much Sartre. I prefer Camus. Right now, in fact, I'm reading The Plague again -- for no particular reason.
Or was it Camus who said that bit about friendship?
Camus, "Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Just walk beside me and be my friend.”
That quotation could also apply to marriage.
...I'm sure many husbands and wives could attempt to become totalitarians as well.
