“They saw their injured country's woe;
The flaming town, the wasted field;
Then rushed to meet the insulting foe;
They took the spear, - but left the shield.”

Happy Christmas!
...to all my Christian friends!
...and for all my Pagan ones, may Dionysus and Apollo BOTH be with you throughout the New Year!
h/t - Geeez for the wonderful graphic that so aptly expresses both sentiments.
PS: I like all blue outdoor lights. My father thought they were depressing. I always thought they looked calm, soothing and reassuring -- especially after a snowfall.
For whatever it may matter, I prefer smaller, subtler, more modest, intimate Christmas displays than the extravagant, highly competitive Amusement Park style seen today, but, Chacun a son gout.
They will anyway, no matter what i may think. At least I've learned THAT much in 72 years.
You do like to make it difficult for everyone, don't you? ;)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Of course, life IS difficult.
ReplyDeleteAnd Thank You. Happy Christmas to you, as well!
Merry Christmas to you and yours, FJ!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brooke! Hope you have a wonderful holiday!
ReplyDeleteFJ,
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
BTW, we have blue-white lights on our house this year -- for the first time.
Got the blues since November. Heh.
VERY appropriate! Merry Christmas, AoW!
ReplyDeleteMay the merry and bright aspects of Christmas -- if there are an left -- remain with you throughout the New year and beyond.

Thank you, FT.
ReplyDeleteAnd I look for and appreciate "Love" and "Grace" not only at Christmas time, but throughout the year.
No, I am not a Christian any more, but I do still love and appreciate all the symbolism behind the rituals.
And I'm with you when it comes to the public displays, as I also appreciate that "less" is sometimes "more".
You're a very wise man, FT. You've got 17 years on me, and I respect that.
Have a Happy New Year!
