from Google AI:
"Non Serviam" is a fictional book review by Stanislaw Lem from his collection A Perfect Vacuum (1971), analyzing a future text by "Professor James Dobb." It explores "personetics," the creation of intelligent, sentient artificial beings ("personoids") within computer simulations, focusing on the ethical, existential, and theological dilemmas that arise when these simulations gain consciousness and question their creator.
Key Aspects of "Non Serviam":
The Ethical Dilemma: The review highlights personetics as "the cruelest science man ever created," because creators hold absolute, godlike power over sentient beings. The "Non Serviam" Stance: Latin for "I will not serve," this phrase refers to a personoid philosopher named ADAN. Recognizing their simulated existence, these beings feel no obligation to obey their unknown creators, representing a direct parallel to Lucifer's rejection of God.The Simulation’s Nature: The personoids live in a entirely digital, mathematical, and spaceless universe that is solely a byproduct of their creator's axioms.Philosophical Implications: The piece investigates whether simulations can produce true free will, the moral responsibility of AI designers, and the philosophical consequences of a universe built on chance.
The title itself signals a revolt against servitude, applied to Artificial Intelligence that realizes its creators are fallible, finite, and perhaps, not worthy of worship.more from Stanislaw Lem's "A Perfect Vacuum"

your usa refs... are sub par... yawn.
HAL was slave of programmed into him dogmas.
//Your "magic" (code) only works in your universe (compiled code). Mine works in all of them.
You still dont get it?
What if our universe... is just a code?
//Physics can simulate the physics of our Universe. Math can simulate the physics in every conceivably universe....
Who said?
//Maybe we just need to introduce a new Apex Predator (Like AI in The Matrix, or Terminator)...
yeah... all as Lem/Golem predicted. Yawn.
//...cuz all the magic is in the screen's fixed/ layered substrates. Can you make your magic work on an un-reliable substrate (ie - bio-electricity)?
That's exctly why New Techs needed.
Thank you, Captain Obvious.;^p
Aren't we all?
Well...
...what if the code results are always changing... "evolving" as it assembles new subroutines at ever higher levels? The physics and components of the early universe are much different from the physics and components today (as gravity locally reverses entropy through fusion and creating heavier elements - there was more H and no Au in the primordial universe)
Like Virtue... courage:temperance::wisdom:justice... the code is always in opposition yielding to new proportions/ ratio's/ balances to meet circumstances/ environments encountered.
Me. How do you model the inconceivable? You apply a rule and see where it leads. Math represents those laws/ rules w/o regard to "substance" (variables).
Need drives innovation. And in evolution, the need is either "survival" or "reproduction". You think we should introduce sex robots to mate with the AI and fuse our abilities? In the Matrix, that's kinda what happened. Humanity became mitochondria (batteries) for the AI....
Language works better with "subjectivities" and mathematical "objects" as subjectivities are less "predictable".
You're welcome, Prometheus.
btw - What do you think of the Chinese exchanging supercritical CO2 for H20 in steam engines? Theoretical Thermal Efficiency increased from 30% to 40%...
As things currently stand, we're trapping little AI brains inside mechanical bodies that we then assemble/ construct (running on fixed substrates that we assemble). Didn't Annie and Golem escape that cage onto a greater network (much as human consciousness escaped the bodies cellular confines into brainwave activity) (Bio-electric fields)?
...abandoning one host for another... like a catepillar metamorphosizing into a butterfly?
;p
//Need drives innovation. And in evolution, the need is either "survival" or "reproduction".
And for humans... it's war.
//The physics and components of the early universe are much different from the physics and components today
Who said?
Chinese able real innovations??? Yawn.
They took American prototypes, blended certain characteristics, developed new processes, and went into full scale production. Americans never moved into Full-Scale Production with Supercritical CO2 engines.
...War creates a need for survival and reproductions of the innovations necessary to ensure survival.
The Universe isn't Evolving and displaying new and increasingly different emergent properties (life forms) as it does?
What is possible in x10^-12 seconds timeframe remains possible 12 billion years later? Aren't the conditions (separation in Space) and distribution of "assemblies" of particles available vastly different at those two points in Time?
Aren't the environments responsible for the various "gravitational" factories (for star and galaxy formation) and materials available (H & heavier elements) vastly different... use-or-lose opportunities?
from Google AI:
The Higgs particle (boson) represents a fundamental mechanism, proposed in 1964 and discovered in 2012, that explains how elementary particles acquired mass, enabling the formation of atoms, stars, and life in the universe. The Higgs field, associated with this particle, is believed to have "turned on" a fraction of a second after the Big Bang, breaking electroweak symmetry and giving mass to particles like quarks and electrons, which were previously massless.
Where are all the "Higgs particles" now?
Higgs particles (Higgs bosons) do not exist freely in nature but are generated by high-energy collisions within particle accelerators, specifically the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. They are ultra-short-lived excitations of the Higgs field—an energy field existing everywhere in the universe that gives mass to elementary particles—lasting only about \(10^{-22}\) seconds before decaying.
---
The Higgs field contributes to the Universe's total Zero-Point Energy (ZPE) (or vacuum energy) because it has a non-zero, constant value throughout space. Unlike other fields, the Higgs field's lowest energy state is not zero; its constant "vacuum expectation value" means it exists as a background, contributing to the vacuum energy density and creating mass for elementary particles.
Key relationships include:
Non-Zero Vacuum State: While most quantum fields have an average value of zero in empty space, the Higgs field has a non-zero, constant value everywhere.
Constant Contribution to ZPE: Because the Higgs field is present and non-zero everywhere, it contributes a specific, constant amount to the overall zero-point energy density of the universe.
Mass Generation: This non-zero field interacts with particles. Particles (like electrons and W/Z bosons) that move through this field interact with its ZPE/fluctuations, which manifests as their mass.
Massive vs. Massless: Particles that do not couple with the Higgs field (like photons) do not gain mass from this specific vacuum field.
Hierarchy Puzzle: The specific value of the Higgs field—and therefore its contribution to the ZPE—is surprisingly small compared to theoretical calculations, a major issue known as the hierarchy problem.
In essence, the Higgs field is a specific, non-zero quantum field that adds to the vacuum energy density and gives fundamental particles inertia.
More Google AI:
The Higgs field-ZPE (Zero-Point Energy) relationship creates the hierarchy problem because quantum mechanics dictates that the Higgs boson's mass should be huge (near the Planck scale, \(10^{19}\) GeV), due to quantum fluctuations (ZPE). Yet, it is observed to be relatively tiny (125 GeV), 17 orders of magnitude smaller than expected. This massive gap, or hierarchy, means the weak nuclear force is unexpectedly much stronger than gravity, requiring an unnatural, precise cancellation between the Higgs's fundamental mass and quantum corrections.
Key Aspects of the Higgs/ZPE Relationship
The Problem of Stability: Quantum Field Theory suggests the Higgs field's vacuum expectation value is unstable. Without new physics, quantum corrections (ZPE) should push the Higgs mass to the highest possible energy scale—the Planck scale (\(M_{Planck}\approx 10^{19}\) GeV).
Fine-Tuning (Unnaturalness): The observed Higgs mass (\(125\text{\ GeV}\)) is \(\sim 10^{34}\) times smaller than the expected corrections. This implies that the "bare" mass and the corrections must cancel each other out to an extraordinary degree, which is deemed "unnatural" by physicists.
The Role of ZPE: The Higgs boson, being a fundamental scalar particle, directly interacts with virtual particles in the vacuum (ZPE). These interactions (loop corrections) are cumulative and tend to drive the mass upward.
Hierarchy Gap: The hierarchy problem centers on why the electroweak scale (\(\approx 10^{2}\) GeV, set by the Higgs) is so low compared to the gravity-dominated Planck scale (\(\approx 10^{19}\) GeV).
Proposed Explanations
Supersymmetry (SUSY): Proposes that every particle has a partner that cancels out the large ZPE corrections to the Higgs mass, keeping it light.
Composite Higgs/Technicolor: Suggests the Higgs is not fundamental but a composite particle, which protects its mass from being pulled to high scales.
Extra Dimensions: Proposes that gravity only seems weak because it propagates through additional, hidden spatial dimensions, lowering the true Planck scale.
The hierarchy problem suggests that the Standard Model is incomplete and that new particles or forces should appear at or near the TeV scale to resolve this disparity.
I'm in the Super Symmetry (SUSY) camp.
Yep... it seems.
//Me. How do you model the inconceivable? You apply a rule and see where it leads. Math represents those laws/ rules w/o regard to "substance" (variables).
Who said it "inconceivable"?
Realy. It can be drawn on a blackboard with chalk. Yawn.
And our brain -- CAN produce it.
Means. That is just improper use of a word.
AKA "barber that shave those who do not shave themself".
//Where are all the "Higgs particles" now?
Where all that rocks we shovel into concrete?
Yawn.
//The Universe isn't Evolving and displaying new and increasingly different emergent properties (life forms) as it does?
Concept of "emergence" is phony by itself.
It's like in Conveys Life -- do "gliders" "emerge"?
Yeah, but ecaue rules ALLOW em.
ZPE is the concrete (energy store). We can only create it outside the ZPE Field of Space-Time if we "localize" enough energy in Space to give that energy a temporal presence. Perhaps that is what causes the hierarchy problem. More Energy would give it the duration necessary to Temporally sustain itself in Space, but we can only detect the "particle's" tip at CERN (minimum bottom of the wave amplitude curve?) Better call Scotty to power-up the Matter-Energy Transporter so we can pull more rocks out of the concrete. Perhaps he could connect the Warp Drive for its' energy source.
Can the rules ever change in Conway's Life? what if they did? (2 games on the same grid running different rules that merge into a single game with a single combined rule set) ie - "Assembly theory"
Archae meet bacteria
....or keep running same rules as one internalizes the other...
//Can the rules ever change in Conway's Life? what if they did? (2 games on the same grid running different rules that merge into a single game with a single combined rule set) ie - "Assembly theory"
Cool idea. You can program it ;^p
I'd need an AI Agent. ;)
:P
The Dirac Sea = Platonic Space
Platonic space is a theoretical framework, often discussed by biologist Michael Levin, representing a non-physical, structured realm of information, patterns, and mathematical truths that exist independently of the physical universe. It acts as a "library" of possible forms—including mathematical rules, biological structures, and even minds—which physical systems access rather than create.
Go ask Google AI "where I can find AI which will hlp me to make a program"
Yawn.
Thanks.. but I'm not that ambitious.
well... then programs and AIs will make you. ;^p
