“They saw their injured country's woe;
The flaming town, the wasted field;
Then rushed to meet the insulting foe;
They took the spear, - but left the shield.”

\\Fireside Chat with Dr. Chris Scolese, Director, National Reconnaissance Office
Do you want me to give my comments on it? As technologist ;-p
No, no need, that was all PR. I worked for Chris when he ran the Earth Observing System Program (EOS) at NASA. That was (3) $1b satellites (Terra/ Aqua/ Aura) and a Ground/Observer System. I worked on Instruments, the 2nd bus (Aura) and the GIS ground system. He went on to becoming Chief Engineer for NASA at HQ, and eventually Acting NASA Administrator, as well as GSFC Center Director.
