“They saw their injured country's woe;
The flaming town, the wasted field;
Then rushed to meet the insulting foe;
They took the spear, - but left the shield.”

I cannot furnish thee, my soul, with all things meet for thee: be patient; thou art not the only lover of things beautiful. - Theognis of Megara (695-696)
you 'gave me things' today, FJ, thru this song; I'd forgotten how much Mr. Z loved it when I sang. He called himself "the president of her fan club" ...especially for my singing. I'd forgotten his love of my singing in my other thoughts of him on so many levels every single day these almost 2 years since I lost him. This made me smile...... Also, ironically enough, I finally have put my wedding ring on my right hand now. What beauty and maturity and commitment those rings show when we exchange them; what a loss that too many people don't seem to take those rings as seriously anymore. thanks.
I'm glad you have that with Mrs. FJ....cherish it. That video's sweet. My favorite moment of a wedding is watching the groom's face as he sets his eyes on his bride. It's not quite what it used to be because the blush is off the rose, but it's still so sweet.

thanks.
De nada. I'm glad you enjoyed it as much I did.
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit it, but I'm an incurable romantic. Must be Mrs. FJ's influence... :)

The blush is off the rose? How do you know that? ;)
ReplyDeleteIn one month the Mr. and I will have been married twelve years, God willing we should both still be here.
ReplyDeleteWonderful song. Peter Gabriel makes it even better.
You know that this hit me hard.
ReplyDeleteCherish your beloveds -- while you have them.
Z,
ReplyDeleteI'm not happy at weddings these days.
What you write on your heart, no one else can erase. G_d bless you, AoW.
