Dimon, a lifelong Democrat who was rumored to be on Obama’s short list for treasury secretary before he settled on Tim Geithner, met privately with Romney on Tuesday morning before a fund-raiser at Brasserie 8¹/2 hosted by Highbridge Capital, a JPMorgan-owned hedge fund.
Dimon, who was spotted “in a discreet one-on-one” discussion with Romney, cannot publicly endorse a candidate because he sits on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. But he donated to Democratic candidates in 2008 and privately supported Obama.
While Dimon’s spokesperson declined to comment, a JP Morgan insider tells us that Dimon has not attended an Obama fund-raiser and has not made any contributions to his campaign during this election cycle. And Dimon has met privately with many of the Republican presidential candidates.
Political insiders are buzzing that a defection would signal further Wall Street hostility toward Obama, who famously called them “fat cat” bankers in 2009. Dimon responded, “I don’t think the president of the United States should paint everyone with the same brush.”
One insider said, “There is not a person on Wall Street, with the exception of the genetic Democrats, who would get anywhere near supporting Obama. The hostility to the administration is huge. Dimon will continue to look bipartisan, then work behind the scenes to get a Republican elected.”
There were few big Wall Street names openly linked to Obama’s fund-raisers in New York. And we’re told ticket sales for Obama’s Friday event with Warren Buffett have been slower than expected, with staffers calling and e-mailing supporters to shift tickets at up to $35,800. Obama’s team insist they are expecting a “packed house,” but didn’t get back to us about Dimon last night.

ReplyDeleteMichelle Bachmann and Ron Paul voted right alongside their fellow Congressmen to abdicate House fiscal powers to Harry Reid for the purposes of creating Obomneycare. (You really think these two lifelong socialists merely wanted a new veterans housing entitlement program?)
Rick Perry endorsed the Hillarycare proposals of 1993 which went even farther than what Obomneycare will give us.
Mitt Romney created Obomneycare.
Now survey the candidates....
Michelle Bachmann says she'll "repeal Obamacare" but as President she wouldn't any power to do that by fiat (talk about gross unfamiliarity with the Constitution, a "Tea Party" trait)
Mitt Romney says he'll grant waivers to all the states by executive order (which merely forces all the states to adopt a Massachussetts-like state run health care mandate)
Ron Paul doesn't have a word to say about Obomneycare, which makes him fringe even among doctors.
Rick Perry swings at Romney over health care even less harder than Tim Pawlenty did.
NONE of the candidates are serious about getting rid of Obomneycare. The "Republican" candidates with the most militant anti-Obomneycare campaign message are either dropped out, or dead last in the polls.
Obomneycare is here to stay, courtesy of the Tea Party. They're not going to overturn Obomneycare any faster than they're going to reverse the TARP bailouts with the higher corporate taxes they want (oh look, the lower taxes candidates are dead last too!!!)
It's a shame no conservatives are running. Might have made for a scintillating election.

Obama has claimed he'd be happy as a one-term president if he could pass Obomneycare.
The Tea Party will continue to make him happy, as long as they get to keep their Obomneycare.
They will vote for Romney as long as their true socialist desire, Hillary Clinton, stays out of the race.
The three goals of the Tea Party are:
1.) to hold a place for their fellow race-baiting socialist Hillary Clinton
2.) to defend Obomneycare from all enemies independent and Republican
3.) to eliminate conservatives from the Republican primaries
They're in full swing on #2, may achieve #3 soon, and have already achieved #1

Since the Baggers have allowed themselves to be associated with The Pizza Man, L'il Ricky Retardo, Rick "Big Hair" Perry (R- Texass) and Michele Bachmann (R - pray them straight) you can certainly determine why they don't have any influence with normals.

ReplyDeleteIt's a holding pattern until the if / when Hillary Clinton announces she is running. Similar to the nomination of John McCain for his similarities / familiarities with Hillary Clinton.
My point is, and will always be that the Tea Party has yet to come up with someone more conservative than John McCain, something you'd think they could do if their own claims to conservatism were not constructed entirely from bullshit.

I think you can discount any Teabagger associations with Rick Santorum. Otherwise he'd be doing much better in their polling than Ron Paul (who you didn't mention). As for Rick Perry, there's far more substantive problems with his candidacy than his hair, and as for Michelle Bachmann, I doubt she could pray her own husband straight.
Romney's a moderate... more leftist than rightist, so I guess you could say he's center-left or slightly left of center.

A vote for the Buckley rule, the "most conservative" candidate in the race, leads me to vote for Obama over any of the Tea Party darlings, and I have no illusions that Obama is conservative at all.
I'll probably end up voting for Romney after he gets the GOP nomination, or write myself in.
And so will you, unless of course Hillary Clinton joins the race and gathers her Tea Party to come back home.
