“They saw their injured country's woe;
The flaming town, the wasted field;
Then rushed to meet the insulting foe;
They took the spear, - but left the shield.”

Still Not By the Book
Lifestyles for the young and gullible granting one the "illusion" of knowledge of ever more complicated "steps".
One of the major "complaints" of modern feminism is that the "male gaze" dominates the film-making perspective. This renders all females into "passive sex objects". By strengthening female characters and weakening male ones, this perspective can become a predominately "female gaze". How this constitutes an "improvement" in storytelling through film still eludes me.
