Repressed Memories

Thanksgiving starts with thanks for mere survival,

Just to have made it through another year

With everyone still breathing. But we share

So much beyond the outer roads we travel;

Our interweavings on a deeper level,

The modes of life that souls alone can share,

he unguessed blessings of our being here,

The warp and weft that no one can unravel.

So I give thanks for our deep coinherence

Inwoven in the web of Gods own grace,

Pulling us through the grave and gate of death.

I thank Him for the truth behind appearance,

I thank Him for his light in every face,

I thank Him for you all, with every breath!

_______ On Giving Thanks _______

Once upon a time, we knew that life
Never guarantees us anything,
Given that, why not just plunge a knife
Into your heart? No form of nannying
Vitiates vicissitude, and yet
Imagination hopes to set aside
Natural Law which says w’re all in debt.
God, the Source of Life, can just provide
The chance to be whatever we can be.
Happiness is found along the way ––
Achieving what we can with Charity.
No panacea can this truth gainsay.
Kings and Vassals –– equal in God’s sight ––
Should each give thanks as they fight the good fight.

Hope you and yours are having a fine celebration today in whatever way that pleases you most, Thersites!

I am not having turkey this year, but a small roast chicken instead with cut up raw vegetables to dip in Russian dressing. Hardly traditional, BUT i AM going to eat a large parfait of Pumpkin Ice Cream layered with Crushed Ginger Snaps for dessert.

Only memories will join me at the table this year, but I am not sad or lonely. I am only grateful that most of my memories are happy ones.

A newly discovered piece of Troll Repellent Verse by satirical poet A.M. Bush:

I’m thankful when the popinjay
Stays far from our sight
His smarmy, pushy fulsome way
Is hardly a delight
His antics bold, assertive, more
Than tittle, jot, or smidgen
Make this poor sad attention whore
Worse than pooping pigeon!

I'm up in Owego, NY for the holidays with family. There's snow on the ground, and a nice holiday atmosphere. We'll go into town later today to shop and dine...

GOOD NEWS ! GOOD NEWS! GOOD NEWS!

FIDEL___CASTRO___is___DEAD___at___LAST__!!!

HALLELUJAH! YIPPEE! & THREE CHEERS!

Life's great, life's grand,
Future all planned,
No more clouds in the sky,
How'm I ridin'? I'm ridin' high!

Someone I hate,
Can't now dictate,
So long, FIDEL goodbye!
How'm I ridin'? I'm ridin' high!

Floating on a starlit ceiling,
Doting on the cards I'm dealing,
Gloating because I'm feeling
So hap-hap-happy I'm slap-happy!

So ring bells, sing songs,
Blow horns, beat gongs,
CASTRO did finally die,
How'm I ridin'? I'm ridin' high!

Someone I hate,
Can't now dictate,
So long,FIDEL, goodbye!
How'm I ridin'? I'm ridin' high!

Floating on a starlit ceiling,
Doting on the cards I'm dealing,
Gloating because I'm feeling
So hap-hap-happy I'm slap-happy!

So ring bells, sing songs,
Blow horns, beat gongs,
CASTRO is finally DEAD,
Now, the Cubans can get ahead!

HOW I WISH ETHEL MERMAN were STILL HERE to SING IT!

Castro's DEATH coming right after Mr. Trump's Victory has made me positively EUPHORIC.

If Britain can hold onto BREXIT against the callous, arrogant, anti-democratic power of The Oligarchs who are conspiring right now to OVERTURN BREXIT, and Mr. Trump makes good on even HALF his promises, the West, –– AS the WEST ––, might yet have a chance for a Renaissance.

Come what may I hope you and yours have a EUPHORIC set of HOLIDAYS, Thersites.

And may we all end this most immemorial year with a YUUUUUGE B-A-N-G that sees only LEFTIST BASTARDS WHIMPERING.

Glad to hear the news... hope this helps losen the Castro grip on Cubazuela. 😎

Many, purportedly in "our" side, instead of allowing themselves to rejoice and embrace hope and optimism, are ALREADY throwing cold water on this heartening development and have decided it win't make any difference. Perhaps not perhaps so, but what earthly GOOD could it possibly do to favor the Dark Side?

It's sort of like a doctor who roots for the DISEASE he is supposed to have pledged himself to cure.

Are you snowed in, or can you enjoy the snow covered scenery?

I don't particularly love winter weather, can't ski, yet I cherish the romantic vision of being snowbound for a long weekend in a posh Vermont ski lodge sipping toddies, or hot buttered rum in front of a roaring fire in witty, congenial company.

Sounds like a scene from a foolish old movie, doesn't it? ;-)

When we arrived in Owego, the snow was 6-8 inches deep on the ground. When we left Saturday morning it was raining and about 70% of the land was devoid of any snow.... It was nice while it lasted.

We took a side trip to Ithaca and the Finger Lakes District on Friday and shopped in some of the small stores on the "Commons" in downtown Ithaca. I found a few bargains in a second-hand book store while the wife and family hit the less eclectic shopping venues. Dinner, was MexIthican food... so it wasn't exactly "White Christmas" or "Holiday Inn"

Sounds very pleasant. Completely uneventful where, which is just the way I planned it.

Hoping Christmas and the New Year will bring much enjoyment and satisfaction your way.
