FJ, where do you find these things? I have never heard of much of this or I know but it is termed so differently.
I started out as a history buff, but read an intro to philosophy and got hooked on philosophy in the early 90s. I worked y way up to the twentieth century in philosophy, and came across a bunch of French philosophers who wrote in the 60's, Plastic Pills YouTuber did some really good synopsis of their work, and so I came to "follow" him on YouTube.
Oooops, I should probably mention that I had a psychic break in 2000 which lead me to read all of Freud's work, so I have an avid interest in psychology. I also had a History professor at the Academy who was a leading figure in the field of "psychohistory" in New York/ Manhattan circles and wrote a number of books on subject (Dr. Jacques Szaluta or "Doc Jacques" to his students).
He used to ask question like, "Why did Hitler invade Poland... because he hated his mother!"
...and so I got interested in learning the answers to seemingly "ridiculous" questions/answers/paradoxes.
Hitler invaded Poland because he had tanks and Russian allies :P
Liebensraum was a subject in Mein Kamph, long before he had any tanks or Russian allies.
Well, it wasn't like he didn't know messing with Poland would start a fight with Britain. The pathetic thing about Russia is that Stalin could speak and read German and knew Hitler's eastward intentions and his hatred of commies with 14 years notice.
Hitler and Stalin were both very evil men. Much like the evil we see again once more permeating our sad world.
...and it's very likely going to get a lot worse before it gets any better. As the "century of the self" video ponders whether we should let our hearts or heads rule our actions. Since the 70's, our "hearts" (and their "desires") have been winning. As they say in the corporate world, "the customer is always right!". And today, the customer is king!
Once, consumerist production dominated the work day. Then, with "radio", "tv", and now "Social media" we became consumers of our leisure time. Then in the early 80's, we became consumers of our politics and politicians (buying new/ freshly made government services). What's left, but to now consume each other, zombie fashion?
Brains... brains!
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...
...it's time to cut back a little on the last one. It's gone from a casual "option" to a "directive".

Psychiatry used to try and identify obstacles keeping you from enjoyment. Today, it identifies obstacles so as to permit you NOT to have to enjoy. ;p
