How Do You Gate Off Your Community?
Intellectual Property is the Death of Capitalism, the Way we Know it
I hate to say it, but I prefer it when he reveaks the sources for those thoughts and his method of arriving at them. I wish I had his disciplined process...
Why is democracy in retreat? I haven't had time to listen to Zizek, but here's my analysis:
Most people today are undisciplined and perennially remain children who feel "entitled" to have all their needs met simply by virtue of their unasked for existence.
Weak-minded, slothful, self-indulgent, lazy, incompetent, unambitious people who scorn cleverness, scorn achievement, and tend always to blame Someone ELSE for their own shortcomings are incapable of ruling themselves.
That is why we are sliding relentlessly toward despotism. SOMEONE has to STEER the ship lest she founder on the rocks. Despots rush in to fill the void left by ignoramuses.
