“They saw their injured country's woe;
The flaming town, the wasted field;
Then rushed to meet the insulting foe;
They took the spear, - but left the shield.”

I like Leart, but not as much as Titus Andronicus. That must have been something to see Stacey Keach play Lear, though! The Shakespeare Theatre is great. My son did a summer program there one year, and almost landed a role in a production of King John.
One of my homeschool students a few years ago -- he graduated from Hillsdale College this year -- was a paid child actor at the Shakespeare Theatre. Quite an experience for him -- and a grueling schedule as well!
Too bad that your son didn't land that role in King John.

Stacy Keach! Outstanding performance, which I attended.
BTW, King Lear is my favorite Shakespearean tragedy.

I've seen several productions of King Lear. Keach as Lear was the best of them all!
