I like O'Conner too, although I find her position "against" the Catholic Church a bit over-presumptuous.
It seemed in the video that she might be moderating her stance a bit.. finding perhaps something beneficial in "group" worship that wasn't there before.

I am a little confused as to how she discusses the Holy Spirit, and that we can go directly to Christ without an intermediary (priest), but then still claims to be Catholic. But hey, some things that are planted early tend to take deep root in the soul.
I love that we've been able to see the changes she's experienced through her life. (or at least SOME of the changes...) I love that she fails big, and just keeps living. She's also talked extensively about her depression / bipolar / mental illness.
She also spoke of her "ordination" as a Catholic priest...
I suspect that much of her anger lies in Catholic Doctrine. She shares the passion that many other gays who gave found themselves condemned for factors which seemed entirely out of their control, both sexuality and gender selection. I sympathize with their plight, but don't expect them to ever attain the acceptance and/or recognition that they seek.

Okay, this is an interesting quote. Seems to me that this is exactly the kind of "progress" that's taking place in our country. I assume Chesterton didn't have that in mind, but still...it all depends on your point of view.

I don't know that she's seeking redemption. It seems that she's redefined her relationship to God, and what "church" means to her.
