The universe witnesses itself through the gazillions of vessels and other stuff in reality. It is the human's constricted sense of self (I, me, mine) and other that keeps humans from truly experiencing the interconnectedness and oneness of the universe.
In other words the I am gets in the way of seeing and experiencing reality as it really unfolds.

I wish. The "I am" is classical. "Reality as it is" is quantum. And quantum only shows us the non-energy stuff travelling at sub-light speed (c- causality), and then sometimes only for a millionth of a millionth of a second, when "It's" time overlaps "our" time, and "it's" place is close enough to be observed.
