You Righties are Jes RAAAACISSSSS

Never mind that your incomes are going down and that your children can't get jobs...

So whenever the people who are generally expected to be "supportive" of your government (the Right) begin to turn on you and believe that your policies are "moving the country in the WRONG direction"... best sit up and take note. Este gobierno se va a caer.

The word is SNEAKED, god dammit.

"Snuck" is an abominable American colloquialism that should be regarded as a linguistic atrocity by anyone who evens pretends to be properly educated.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Snick, snack, snuck?

What infuriates me about the video is not an improper tense. It's an improper idea. That the right is nothing but racist resentment, and not about reforming our social structures (like capitalism) to yield a more natural equitable redistribution of resources w/o constant and continual government intervention. We like our "gods" (governments) to be absent from our universes so that we don't need to continually plea and pray for favours and interventions...

No one’s saying ‘the Right is nothing but racist resentment’. What people are saying is that most of the racism that still exists comes from the Far Right and Conservative Rightwing.

The Right’s ‘about reforming our social structures’??? Please behave! You think Gove/May/Johnson/Blairite ‘Labour/Trump’ are going to moderate Capitalism? You seem to be conflating the Right with Farmer John!

Anyway, we have a plan. The missus is Indigenous (going back to the 1800s, hopefully that’s enough for the ‘you born here?’ crowd!), my daughter and me will ‘Indigenise’ ASAP. A piece of paper will give us GB Identity, or maybe Little Ingeland identity. I’ll settle for Yorkshire identity if need be!

Then we’ll pull up the draw bridge, stop immigration and our children will be lifted out of poverty and into prosperous jobs making trinkets for the re-emerging seaside tourist industry! It’ll be such fun

Glad you have a plan.

"Most of the racism..." Please. We didn't invent the myth of the friendly and innocuous metic deserving of full citizenship "rights". Affirmative prejudices are just as "racist" as negative and demeaning prejudices.

And yes, we care about reforming social structures, else we wouldn't have an amendment process for our Constitution.

...but you're right about one thing. Trump isn't about to moderate capitalism. But then, neither is Clinton. Bernie would, but at the expense of creating an even BIGGER problem, centralized Big 'G' government

Nerdwriter's vid actually gives quite a good historical account of post-Thatcher Euro-scepticism. Thanks for that.

No one disputes there was a myriad of reasons to vote Leave for those so inclined:

* immigrants
* anti-establishment/anti-political classes
* anti-centralisation (Brussels)
* EU's poor democratic structures
* anti-Neoliberal
* 350 m/wk to the NHS (officially retracted by Leave/Farage/Gove)

But chauvinism/nativism/petty nationalism/racism was the ticket on which the campaign was ran.

Žižek in Open Democracy:

“Precisely. The EU is in a state of inertia, and I share this rage of the people. But what will be the result? Britain will lose months, years in protracted negotiations with a shitty compromise at the end – during which time the space for real change will have diminished. The British attitude, of leaving the EU to its fate, is the logic of the wrong era in an age of global problems: ecology, biotechnology, intellectual property. Britain all alone will be even more vulnerable, exposed to the pressure of international capital without any of the protections. I don’t see any strength gained in standing alone”.

Gert, did you ever read Thoreau? Here's one of my favorite lines from "Walden", "I long ago lost a hound, a bay horse, and a turtle dove, and am still on their trail. Many are the travellers I have spoken concerning them, describing their tracks and what calls they answered to. I have met one or two who had heard the hound, and the tramp of the horse, and even seen the dove disappear behind a cloud, and they seemed as anxious to recover them as if they had lost them themselves."

The reason I mention this, is that in "politics" it can be sometimes unwise to alert the "shark" as to your immediate line of attack. Corporate Globalism is responsible for much of the ecological, biotechnical and intellectual property catastrophies of our Age. And we need some "national" test-labs in which to experiment w/o the possibility of the results becoming tainted from the infectious disease we are attempting to "cure". Unless you think that global corporate entities will react favorably upon having major legal restrictions imposed upon them from without?

When you are out on some farmer's property at 5am, the farmer is naturally curious as to "why" you're there. Best have a good excuse ready for him when he shows up with his shotgun.

You've probably come to know the Brits as well as anyone can. One thing I learned working on NATO defense projects. The American's will spend billions on a hard-kill that the Brits achieve with hundreds with a "soft" one.

Thanks Gert. Good luck figuring out yours (Brexit)! ;)

ps- Farage must be a moron, stepping down just when the works about to really get started... which is the equivalent of signing the Declaration of Independence, then returning home in expectation of others achieving it.
