“They saw their injured country's woe;
The flaming town, the wasted field;
Then rushed to meet the insulting foe;
They took the spear, - but left the shield.”
―Philip Freneau

Escaping the Dream Weavers
I've Got Heartburn! ;)
“Si vous êtes pris dans le rêve de l‘autre; vous êtez foutus.”
This is the stuff that nightmares are made on, And all our time henceforth shall be deprived of sleep.
Why dwell on Ugliness and Evil?
Because they are part of Reality?
Be wary of what you choose to occupy your mind.
Vice is a creature of such fearful mien As to be hated needs to be seen, Yet seen too oft -- familiar with her face -- First we endure, pity -- then embrace.
..or as Nietzsche noted, “Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster... for when you gaze long into the abyss. The abyss gazes also into you.”
That gaze of the 'Autre' is that voice from the pillow...
...only, there is no 'Autre'. There is only his "trace" built into the words we use, the words we hear. The words you are reading, and I am writing, right now.
