“They saw their injured country's woe;
The flaming town, the wasted field;
Then rushed to meet the insulting foe;
They took the spear, - but left the shield.”
―Philip Freneau

And by a prudent flight and cunning save A life which valour could not, from the grave. A better buckler I can soon regain, But who can get another life again?

The odds were a hundred to one against me The world thought the heights were too high to climb But people from Missouri never incensed me Oh, I wasn’t a bit concerned For from hist’ry I had learned How many, many times the worm had turned
They all laughed at Christopher Columbus When he said the world was round They all laughed when Edison recorded sound They all laughed at Wilbur and his brother When they said that man could fly They told Marconi Wireless was baloney It’s the same old cry
They laughed at our wanting Trump Said we were reaching for the moon But Trump came through Now they’ll have to change their tune
They all said Trump just couldn't be elected They laughed at us, and how! But ho, ho, ho! Who’s got the last laugh now?
They all laughed at Rockefeller Center Now they’re fighting to get in They all laughed at Whitney and his cotton gin They all laughed at Fulton and his steamboat Hershey and his chocolate bar Ford and his tin lizzie Kept the scoffers busy That’s how people are
They laughed at our wanting Trump Said it would be, "hello, goodbye." But Trump came through Now they’re eating humble pie
They all said he'd never make the White House Now he's taking a bow For ho, ho, ho! Who’s got the last laugh? He, hee, hee! Let’s at the past laugh Ha, ha, ha! Who’s got the last laugh now? "
Funny how he laughs at those who propose the continuation of the socialist welfare state... and then proposes communist internationalism with a human face as a solution to Europe's economic problems.
And thank you for pinpointing the inconsistency in Zizek's rhetoric that makes it hard for me to take him too seriously.
Because I believe "RESULTS are ALL that COUNT," I have always assumed Karl Marx's motives to have been malevolent, but perhaps he was –– like Zizek –– just an amiable eccentric with wild ideas who earnestly believed in the essential benevolence and integrity of his own thinking while blind got its inevitable ramifications?
No matter WHAT happened, I could never be persuaded to believe that Zizek has a mean bone in his pudgy, bearded body. He too closely resembles a child's beloved, well-worn Teddy Bear for that. §;^D
You have to remember that Marx was around for the "robber baron" era of early industrialization. Kapital was "accumulating" then, just as he predicted. Unfortunately "big" government is NO solution to the problem of "big" business. BOTH require "legal castration" through the establishment of a "balance of powers" commercial legal system that penalizes over-capitalization. Teddy Roosevelt got it wrong, as well. Only the "radical progressives" had it right.
I happen to be a GREAT ADMIRER of those-called ROBBER BARONS. It was THEY who almost single-handedly made the USA the great superpower it ultimately became after the devastation and utter ruin wrought by Stinkin' Lincoln's War.
The derisive term "Robber Barons" was conjured up by the Marxian-Progressive-Liberal-Leftist-Statist-Bastards who were determined then as now to REDUCE America's greatness to a smoldering pile of ashes and soot.

Why not just say "Everything in moderation" straight out, instead of going though such lengthy obscurantist song and dance routine?
After long years of observation and considerable study I have come to realize that the who consider themselves intellectuals too often seem to couch common knowledge in the most abstruse terms possible in order to make themselves feel smarter or appear more significant than they really are.

Zizek is getting fat. Still he remains oddly endearing, even though it's become increasingly obvious that he is absolutely NUTZ.
I've yet to see an officially recognized "intellectual" who wasn't.
All the earnest blather has no more effect than a thousand maids with a thousand brooms zealously trying to sweep the ocean into line.

...and yes, the 'hysterics' won the election. Let's see if they can reform the socialist state sufficiently to make a difference.
I'm a determined optimist. It's not easy, but I AM determined. };^)>
If Mr. Trump does't pan out, we are certainly no worse off than we would have been if that CUNT had managed to ass-end to The Throne.

Care to 'mansplain', Stinker?
