From Zero to Hero

\\I would assume that the Logic of an algorithm is pure reason, but I suppose there could be practical aspects, as well, like choosing the language to program in.
Interesting idea.
Can I hope that you'll elaborate it further?

Limits to capability? Imaginary numbers?

Yeah... that is old and very interesting question -- about relation of Math and Phys... mean, Reality.

But sinse then Programming was devised.

So, now that question pransformed into -- can our Universe be described as Turing's machine? ;-)

You tell me. :P

Comment missing.

Well.
Go ask Wolfram. ;-)

Not in Spam. ???

Not 'Pataphysics? ;P

Physics of Star Trek? ;-P

The "tech" is the "magic" in Science Fiction.

Q said...

Oh... that is pet peeve of mine.
That verse "technologies... it's magic"

The very first question -- which exactly?
Wizardry? Witchcraft? Alchemy? :-)))

-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said...

All of the above. When the Enterprise does time travel, perhaps you can explain the physics?

Q said...

\\All of the above.

But... magic don't work like that.
Wizard do not use witchcraft.
Alchemists do not chant spells.
Each type of "magic" have own mechanics. And do not cross-work.

In our Universe? Or their? ;-)

In our Universe physics of Star Treks can be explained with currents inside brain of that script writer. ;-P

We've run out of witches to burn, so we've decided to start burning SciFi writers and future technologists. :P

-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said...

Wanna know some real witches? The people who convinced Americans that homosexuals could get married. Just say the spell, "marriage"... and *poof*, it's true.

Q said...

Exactly! MAGIC!!!

Only try to do that with electrons... ;-P
and you will know -- that tech != magic, but sweat and blood and brain-crunching. ;-P

Q said...

Yap.
Doing science and tech is hard. No like that brandishing magic wand at all. ;-P

Q said...

Another word -- Experiment(s) need to be performed.

And new tech needed for that experiments. ;-)

-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said...

Experiments = failures. Can you afford to learn from failure? Or will failures get you cancelled?

That's the problem with NASA. It can't afford failures.

Q said...

Yap. :-)))

So?

What difference differ representation aka another PL could introduce? ;-)

-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said...

Back in my day, COBOL was for business, FORTRAN was for math, and BASIC was for learning.

Q said...

Today it even more diversifed and specialized.

Like JavaScript for web-pages.
Or Haskel... for eggheads... wannabees. :-)))

But well. Logic itself is the same.
Different languages have slightly differ logics.
And even if you'd reduce it to notation. Or even "logic" of computer microchips...

There still discrepancies exist.
