People finding to themself faint understanding of what *I* learned from Lem... like three decades ago (and that couple decades PAST Lem himself found it and explained), and tried to explain to you here... for how long already??? Three years?

What do you think of degeneracy vs. redundancy... Systems that fail slowly rather than quickly and having 100% backups (double/triple redundancies). Like when the Voyager computer failed, and they re-routed a few functions and got it running again.
Had it been a manned spacecraft, they would have had triple (vice double) redundancy.

Yep. But the current tech doesn't tinker with itself. If it was capable of degrading slowly... perhaps with the right algorithms it could do so... Redundancy didn't cut it.
