But "proclaiming" is a two way street, don't you think? What you say and what they hear are two diferent things. What they hear is simply, but for a chance of birth he would have been singing a very different tune and why? because they don't see any consequences in it for yourself.
But what do i know of you "personally"? or, of others? The picture i get is from these blogs, most of which are political in nature. So perhaps i have been presuming, the discourse may be very different on the personal level. Sorry about that. :(

For, if the context is liberal politics, then i can see why this truth must need be spoken. Even "personally", perhaps. [I was wrong there.] But as one race to another, that is when the context is only race ad nothing else, then perhaps it would behoove you if you first spoke your truth.
To me, American black families are the "canaries in the coalmine" of progressive liberalism. A vast majority bought the product, lock, stock and barrel.
As for MY truth, I am a product of Charles Murray's Fishtown, yet I retain Belmont values. I live next to some of the most exclusive Superzips in the country, but commute to them. I move in and out of "the bubble". I doubt many who live within it have ever slaughtered their own dinner. I have.

On a final note ... i do believe they [the liberals] have stacked the deck for "you". There is nothing "you" can say or do that will win you a "hand". And yet, i sometimes feel that we are too blinded by politics. There must be someone among the conservatives who would give the entire message: "This is your truth, and this is ours. And the liberals are nobody's friends." :)
The question is not whether you expect to win or not, but rather that a hand is being forced on you. You could still refuse to play it, but you don't; and that is because you are blinded by politics [and let's call a spade a spade - in some cases by prejudices as well.] And in doing so you merely play right into their hands.
Even so i would like to retract my last comment, even though i do think that truth is getting distorted here at least in the delivery: truth must be told, just as it must introduce hierarchies in the soul. But you know all about that. :)

I don't proclaim myself to be a light to others. I simply proclaim that we must ALL stand in the light.
