What do you Stand FOR?

It's time that I stand alone,
Proud and tall on my own.
No man will ever define me,
I'm independent, strong and will live successfully.
I've made it this far by myself,
With only a little or no help.
No one can make me or break me down,
It just adds more layers to strengthen me all around.
Learning that everyone has a choice,
Stand your ground and have a voice.
You are a survivor designed to overcome,
All the evil that's instilled within someone.
Keep moving forward towards better things,
Don't give up hope on your blessings.
Be the best person you can be,
So you can live your life guilt free

OFF-TOPIC, but NEVER INAPPROPRIATE

Every form of Life deserves respect –– with the possible exception of those human beings who make a career out of NOT respecting it.

Today is PALM SUNDAY, and no one –– including me –– has seen fit to blog on it, although the story posted at my blog –– Stephen Vincent Benet's By the Waters of Babylon –– could with a little imagination easily be construed as an appropriate commentary on Passion Week.

The insolent rejection of Jesus Christ followed by His suffering, death and Resurrection always takes on new meaning as we continue to spurn His Example by disrespecting, badgering, beating, tormenting, torturing and murdering each other in wholesale lots.

Abandoning our faith just because the Secular World no longer regards it as either fashionable or appropriate for public contemplation is the WORST thing we could do to orselves.

The joyous triumph of Easter has no meaning without the Passion. Passion Week should remind us all of how badly we treat one another through misunderstanding, too much eagenerss to find fault, and the unholy joy we take in finding reasons to despise, mock, reject and condemn one another just as the Pharisees did our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A week of penitience, prayer and sober reflection on our sins and shortcomings is certainly approriate NOW more than EVER.

Judas, as I recall, received THIRTY pieces of silver.

I have seen –– and tangled with –– hideous comments from Jews vehemntly denouncing the Gospels as "anti-Semitic," because JUDAS has a JEW in his name, I suppose.

Hell! Jesus Himself, –– and each of his Apostles was a Jew.

As Ann Coulter has asserted –– I don't know how seriously –– "We –– meaning Christians –– are PERFECTED Jews."

Jesus never intended to start a NEW religion. His mission was to CORREECT and PERFECT the JUDAISM into which He was born.

In rejecting their longed-for Messiah, the Jews bought themselves a legacy of Endless Woe for which they have for centuries blamed everything and everyone BUT themselves.

Early Christian's PERSECUTION of the Jews, however, certainly did nothing to ameliorate the situation. It only served to widen the gap between Christians and Jews and add fuel to the fires of Self-Righteousness on both sides that keep us fighting on even today "as Ignorant Armies that Clash by Night" as poet Matthew Arnold so eloquently put it in his elegiac Dover Beach.

A WAY to COUNTER the COUNTER-CULTURE and FIND PEACE of MIND:

____________ Elation for Days____________

Speak quietly. It helps to soothe the nerves.
Yelling –– any harshness –– is abrasive ––
An agitating force no one deserves
Denying peace, obnoxious and invasive.
Refresh the soul with calm, sweet introspection.
Opening the mind clears out the dross.
Find serenity under prayer’s direction.
Needs depart, as does the pain of loss,
Only when we lift our thoughts to Heaven.
Images of all that’s bright and clean
Transcend gloom and sagging spirits leaven,
As on the rock of Truth we safely lean.
Leave resentment, fear, distrust behind;
Endure with patience, and sweet peace you’ll find.

What do I stand for?

If you don't know after all these years of vigorous correspo]ndence and fierce debate on subjects both trivial and profound, no amount of formal explanation on my part could possibly produce an adequate answer.

Thersites,
Ditto!

I also stand in the presence of certain of my elders -- those whom I respect.

And I stand for "The Hallelujah Chorus."
