Buddhist Detachment Won't Save You
from Google AI (Nature):
Universal conformal invariance, in the context of living matter, refers to the discovery that the macroscopic patterns of collective cell movement exhibit a hidden symmetry, regardless of the specific cell type or evolutionary historyThis means that different cell types, from bacteria to human cells, display similar swirling or vortex-like flow patterns with identical statistical properties. This finding suggests that living matter organizes itself according to universal laws, bridging biology with theoretical physics and mathematics.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
What is Conformal Invariance?
In simple terms, conformal invariance means that a system's behavior remains unchanged under transformations that preserve angles and local scaling (stretching or shrinking). Imagine zooming in or out on a picture; if it's conformally invariant, the relative angles between lines in the picture remain the same even as you change the magnification. In the context of cell movement, this implies that the swirling patterns of cells maintain their statistical characteristics even when viewed at different scales or with distortions that preserve angles.
What does "Universal" mean?
In this context, "universal" means that the observed conformal invariance applies to a wide range of living systems, despite their vast evolutionary differences. For instance, researchers have observed this symmetry in bacteria, human cells, and even different types of cancer cells. The fact that these diverse systems all exhibit the same statistical patterns of swirling flow suggests that there are underlying, fundamental principles governing how living matter organizes itself.
Why is this discovery significant?
  • Bridging Biology and Physics:
This finding connects biological observations with mathematical and physical concepts like conformal field theory (CFT), a powerful framework for describing systems with scale invariance and angle preservation.
  • Understanding Collective Behavior:
It provides insights into how large groups of cells coordinate their movements, which is crucial for understanding processes like tissue development, wound healing, and cancer progression.
  • Potential for New Therapies:
By understanding the fundamental principles of cell movement, scientists may be able to develop new strategies to influence these processes, potentially leading to new therapies for diseases involving abnormal cell movement.
Scientists find evidence of universal conformal invariance in ...
In essence, the discovery of universal conformal invariance in living matter is a major step towards understanding the fundamental rules that govern life at its most basic level. Researchers suggest this could lead to a deeper understanding of biological processes and potentially new therapeutic approaches.

Emmy Noether's groundbreaking work on what is now known as Noether's theorem was published in 1918. This theorem establishes a fundamental link between symmetries in physical systems and conservation laws. Specifically, her paper "Invariante Variationsprobleme" (Invariate Variational Problems), presented in July 1918, demonstrated that for every continuous symmetry of a physical system, there is a corresponding conservation law.

In Erwin Schrödinger's book "What Is Life?", he explores the concept of life from a physics perspective, suggesting that living organisms can be understood as systems that maintain order and self-replication by drawing "negative entropy" from their environment. He proposed that the laws of physics, particularly those of thermodynamics and quantum mechanics, could help explain the processes within living organisms.
Schrödinger's book, based on lectures he gave in 1943, aimed to bridge the gap between physics and biology, particularly in understanding heredity and genetics.

Pseudo-sciency BS.

Yet one time -- "embriology". Google for it.

Starting from chicken egg. Blastula. Gastrula. And etc.

Anonymous said...

The early development of a chick embryo proceeds through several key stages, starting with fertilization and progressing through cleavage, blastulation, and gastrulation. After fertilization, the single-celled zygote undergoes rapid cell division (cleavage) forming a blastula, which then reorganizes into a gastrula with three germ layers: ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Fertilization:
The process begins with the fertilization of the egg by sperm in the upper oviduct.
2. Cleavage:
The fertilized egg (zygote) undergoes rapid cell division, forming a solid ball of cells.
3. Blastula:
Continued cell division leads to the formation of a blastula, which is a hollow sphere of cells. In the chick, this is a flattened structure called the blastoderm, with a subgerminal cavity underneath.
4. Gastrula:
The blastula undergoes gastrulation, a process where cells migrate and reorganize to form the three germ layers:
Ectoderm: The outer layer, which will give rise to the skin and nervous system.
Mesoderm: The middle layer, which will form muscles, bones, and blood.
Endoderm: The inner layer, which will become the lining of the digestive and respiratory systems.
5. Organogenesis:
Following gastrulation, the germ layers differentiate and begin to form specific organs and tissues.

CFT (Conformal Field Theory) and fractals are connected in several ways, particularly in the study of critical phenomena and quantum gravity in two dimensions. Conformal field theories, which are invariant under conformal transformations (scale and angle-preserving transformations), can be used to describe the behavior of systems at their critical points, where they exhibit scale invariance and self-similarity, characteristic of fractals.
Here's a breakdown of the connection:
Fractals and Critical Phenomena:
.
Many physical systems at their critical points exhibit fractal behavior, meaning their structures display self-similarity at different scales. For example, the boundaries of clusters in percolation theory or the paths of random walks near criticality can be fractal.
CFT as a Description:
.
CFTs provide a powerful mathematical framework for studying these critical phenomena because they are invariant under scale transformations, which is a key feature of fractals.
Fractal Dimensions and CFT:
.
The central charge, a key parameter in CFT, is related to the Hausdorff dimension of fractal structures that emerge in the corresponding physical systems.
SLE and Boundary Quantum Gravity:
.
The Stochastic Loewner Evolution (SLE) is a mathematical model used to describe random curves, and it is deeply connected to CFT and boundary quantum gravity, where fractal structures play a crucial role.
Fractal Entropy Scaling:
.
In some cases, fractal behavior can also be observed in the scaling of entanglement entropy in systems described by CFT, particularly when the system exhibits chaotic behavior, according to a paper on the American Physical Society.
Holography and Fractals:
.
In the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence, which relates string theory in anti-de Sitter (AdS) space to a CFT on its boundary, fractal structures can be used to explore the properties of both the bulk and boundary theories.
Quantum Error Correction:
.
The study of holographic quantum error correcting codes in AdS/CFT also involves fractal structures, highlighting the connection between fractals, quantum information, and gravity, says a paper on the American Physical Society.

//Evidence of universal conformal invariance in living biological matter

Again. What's so special about it?

That "conformal invariance" -- is THE property of our Universe.

And that "living matter" consist of THAT SAME atoms as rocks and dust.

-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said...

Our results strongly suggest that the flows spontaneously generated by diverse cellular genotypes exhibit robust conformal invariance, indicating that very different biological systems might be characterized by a common set of scaling laws. We next sought to ascertain if we could resolve which universality class these biological flows belong to. One of the central mathematical breakthroughs of the last few decades was to demonstrate that certain systems with conformal invariance and domain Markov property can be described, in the scaling limit of interfaces, by a family of planar curves defined by a single parameter κ. This formalism is known as the Schramm–Loewner evolution (SLE)27,28. The value of κ distinguishes different fundamental statistical mechanics models at criticality and, thus, resolves the universality class that a system belongs to29,30,31. To determine if the vorticity contours in the cellular systems are SLE curves, we extracted the κ parameter from the four experimental systems. We used two distinct and independent methods32: (1) directly calculating the driving function33 and (2) measuring the left-passage probability, comparing both to the analytic predictions for the SLE34 (Methods). The driving function captures the diffusivity of the curve in the SLE process. Physically, it represents how the curve evolves and changes direction and helps in understanding the underlying stochastic processes. The left-passage probability measures how likely it is for the curve to pass to the left of a given point as one proceeds further along the curve, which provides insights into the spatial distribution and geometry of the curve. This is crucial for understanding phenomena in which the connectivity and clustering of components are key. These two measurements, thus, provide independent ways of assessing if a curve can be described as an SLE curve and to determine the diffusivity parameter κ of the underlying SLE process. Although the left-passage probability indirectly measures the diffusivity of the curve, the driving function directly measures κ. For all the four cellular genotypes in our experiments, both methods consistently yielded κ = 6 (Fig. 3). The value of κ = 6 is also consistent with the estimated fractal dimension D (Fig. 2a), which, for SLE, is related to κ as D = 1 + κ/8 (ref. 35). This particular value of κ has an important physical meaning, as it has been uniquely proven that for κ = 6, the SLE curves correspond to the contours of critical percolation clusters and have the locality property (such that the properties only depend on the immediate neighbourhood)30,36. As such, our analyses reveal that the vorticity contours found in the four different cellular systems are not only conformally invariant but they also fall into the universality class of percolation.

Practically, "living matter" is the same as

Sea foam is primarily composed of dissolved organic matter in seawater that is agitated by wind and waves. This organic matter includes substances like proteins, fats, dead algae, and other particulate matter. When these substances are churned up, they create bubbles that form the foamy appearance.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Dissolved organic matter:
Seawater contains a variety of organic compounds, including proteins, fats, and decaying organic matter from living organisms like algae and plankton.
Surfactants:
Many of these organic compounds act as surfactants, which means they reduce the surface tension of water and help to stabilize bubbles.
Agitation:
The wind and waves provide the necessary energy to agitate the seawater, causing the surfactants to trap air and form bubbles.
Algal Blooms:
Large blooms of algae can contribute significantly to the organic matter in seawater, and when these blooms decay, they can lead to particularly thick sea foam.

In contrast, the study of complex interactions between the components that make up certain inanimate materials, like metals and alloys, has led to the discovery of universal behaviour near the so-called critical regimes. In these conditions, the global macroscopic properties no longer depend on the specific properties of the individual constituents, but rather exhibit ‘universal’ behaviour8. The principles that give rise to this universality in inanimate materials have been described using the framework of conformal field theory9,10, which predicts how shapes and angles of structures are locally conserved across different systems, but not necessarily their length scales or curvatures. Although the techniques used to describe conformally invariant structures have long been used to make theoretical predictions in statistical mechanics and condensed-matter physics9,10 and to establish the universality of critical phenomena (for example, using numerical studies of turbulence11,12,13 and rigidity percolation14,15), the direct experimental observation of conformal invariance and robust universal critical behaviour in living matter remains elusive.

They say that startups need different people, with different strengths.

Like, builders, for example.

In a startup, "builders" are individuals who thrive on creating something from the ground up and are passionate about shaping the future of a company. They are not just executors but are actively involved in defining the business model, building teams, developing products, and even overseeing day-to-day operations. Builders are characterized by their ability to figure things out from scratch, their self-sufficiency, hands-on approach, and growth-oriented mindset.
Here's a more detailed look at the concept of "builders" in a startup context:
Key characteristics of builders:
Hands-on and resourceful:
Builders are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get involved in all aspects of the business, from brainstorming to execution.
Self-sufficient:
They can work independently and adapt to changing situations without needing extensive established processes or teams.
Passionate about building:
They are driven by the opportunity to shape a company's future and are eager to learn and adapt.
Growth-oriented:
They are resilient, adaptable, and constantly seeking to improve and push the company forward.
Builders vs. Executives/Operators:
While executives focus on strategy and high-level management, builders are more involved in the practical, hands-on work of building the company.
Builders are often the first hires in a startup, filling roles that founders may lack the time or expertise for, such as finance or operations.
Builders are often attracted to the ambiguity and opportunity for influence that early-stage startups offer.
Examples of roles builders might fill:
Early-stage team members:
Developers, designers, marketers, and sales professionals who are willing to wear multiple hats and contribute to various aspects of the business.
Chief of Staff:
A role focused on streamlining operations and supporting the executive team.
Product Managers:
Individuals who drive the product vision and strategy.
Operations roles:
Individuals who manage day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and smooth workflows.
Why builders are crucial for startups:
Accelerate growth:
Builders help startups move quickly from idea to execution, building the necessary infrastructure and processes.
Reduce failure rates:
By providing expertise and hands-on support, builders increase the chances of success for early-stage ventures.
Foster innovation:
Builders' willingness to experiment and try new things helps drive innovation within the company.
Shape the company culture:
Builders play a key role in shaping the company's culture and values through their actions and contributions.
In essence, builders are the individuals who transform startup ideas into tangible realities, playing a vital role in the success of early-stage ventures.

The book is based on Joe’s study of over 1,000 entrepreneurs. The research confirmed the discovery that all entrepreneurs are not all “wired” the same way. The book suggests that entrepreneurs fall into four distinct types of “entrepreneurial DNA’s” that leverage unique strengths, weaknesses and tendencies that are typical in each specific type of entrepreneur. Here are the four types:
