Jonah Goldberg interviews Laura Field.  Note how many of the MAGA "intellectuals" are affiliated with Leo Strauss, who also grandfathered the more pro-Israel Neocons (East Coast Straussians).  The Conservative split seems largely one between Athens and Jerusalem.

And this "Oedipal" (not Schizoid) analysis demonstrates precisely why Academics and "professional" (PhD) Intellectuals don't "get" MAGA.  The analysis fails to challenge the "privileges" of the Professional Managerial Class (economics from which their 'surplus' salaries are derived).  For to challenge the excesses of late Capitalism would require constructing a new order, more beneficial to the working class.  And that kind of change is "off the table" in their minds.  "You will own nothing and be happy".  It's to be the gypsy life for us all.

I miss Jonah's mom...  She "got it".  Trump is NOT a "Straussian".  He's an actual businessman/ owner (not a surplus salaried CEO/ PMC employee).
