Society is Creating Confusion where Clarity is Needed
Examples

from Google AI:
Hexis (ἕξις) is an Ancient Greek word meaning a settled state, stable disposition, or habit of character that is ingrained through repeated practice. [1, 2, 3]
Meaning and Etymology
  • Root: It comes from echein, meaning "to have" or "to hold". It translates literally to "having" or a "possession" of a quality.
  • Definition: It is a deep-seated condition of the mind or body, rather than a fleeting emotion or a temporary mood.
  • Distinction: Unlike dynamis (a raw, unexpressed capacity) or a single action, hexis is an active, settled condition that reliably prompts specific behaviors. [1, 2, 3]
Role in Aristotle's Philosophy
  • Foundation of Character: In the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle explains that virtues and vices are types of hexeis.
  • Habit and Action: Our repeated actions (ethos) form our habits, which solidify into our character (hexis).
  • Second Nature: Through continuous practice, a virtuous action (like acting courageously or honestly) stops requiring hard deliberation and becomes an automatic part of who you are.

More:

Dynamis (δύναμις) is the Ancient Greek word for power, potential, or capacity. In philosophy—particularly Aristotle’s—it is the foundational concept of potentiality, representing the latent ability for something to exist, act, or be acted upon.

Direct Comparison: Dynamis vs. Hexis

To understand dynamis, it is easiest to look at it right alongside hexis. While they both relate to human character and ability, they represent entirely different stages of development:

Concept                    Meaning                                    Nature                                        Human Example

Dynamis(δύναμις)    Potentiality or raw capacity.    Innate, unformed, and neutral. It can go in any direction.    The innate capacity to feel anger, learn a language, or become a musician.

Hexis(ἕξις)                Actuality or settled disposition.Acquired, stable, and morally directed through habit.    The settled habit of being a calm person, speaking fluent Greek, or playing the piano.

Key Aspects of Dynamis

Raw Material: Dynamis is what you are born with. Everyone has the dynamis to be virtuous or vicious, but that raw capacity itself carries no moral weight.

The Principle of Change: Aristotle defined dynamis as a source of change in something else, or in itself acting as something else. For example, an acorn has the dynamis to become an oak tree.

Two-Way Power: Rational dynamis can produce opposite results. The raw capacity to doctor someone is the exact same capacity used to poison them; it requires a chosen, trained hexis to ensure the power is used for good.

Moving from Potential to Character

In Greek ethics, your life's journey is about transforming dynamis into hexis through energeia (activity/action):

You start with Dynamis: You have the raw biological capacity to feel fear or confidence.

You engage in Energeia: You repeatedly practice facing your fears in daily life.

You achieve Hexis: Courage becomes a fixed, beautiful, and stable part of your character.

Would you like to see how this transition applies to a specific virtue like courage or generosity, or explore how Aristotle links dynamis to metaphysics?

Here you have it.

Yes, critical thinking includes the ability to evaluate and question your own thoughts, but it is much broader than just finding fault.

What Self-Evaluation MeansThinking about your own thinking is called metacognition. It is a core part of critical thinking. It means you look inward to check your mental process.

Spotting bias: You look for hidden preferences that might skew your view.

Questioning assumptions: You ask why you believe a certain idea.

Checking sources: You trace where your facts came from to see if they are trustworthy.

What Critical Thinking Is Not
Many people confuse being "critical" with being negative.
It does not mean complaining or doubting everything you see.It does not mean trying to prove yourself or others wrong all the time.It is an objective tool used to make reliable judgments based on solid evidence.

The Main Goal
The goal of critical thinking is to find the truth and make good decisions. Criticizing your own thoughts helps you drop false beliefs and make better choices

Go post this to DiDi, and look how he will not disclose it.
Or will try to subvert it.

A disruption in the human sense of smell and re-functioning of the structures that once calculated directionality in "space" to directionality in "time". An aberation unique to homo-SAPIENs.

Anonymous said...

That is not I (not)having it in me the problem.

That is you NOT having it in you --are the one.

-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said...

In his psychoanalytic theory of human evolution, Sigmund Freud posited that the diminution of the sense of smell—triggered by humans adopting an upright, bipedal posture—served as the critical catalyst for organic repression. This structural shift ultimately enabled human civilization, order, and advanced planning abilities. [1] (https://www.encyclopedia.com/psychology/dictionaries-thesauruses-pictures-and-press-releases/smell-sense), [2] (https://www.cambridge.org/core/books/freuds-thinking/culture/4DAB48F03A327B32014549FF02F6E310), [3] (https://genius.com/Sigmund-freud-civilization-and-its-discontents-chap-4-annotated), [4] (https://pep-web.org/search/document/PAQ.028.0307A)Freud outlines this speculative evolutionary chain primarily in the footnotes of his seminal work, Civilization and Its Discontents (1930), mapping out how transitioning away from olfaction allowed humans to develop higher cognitive delay-and-planning mechanisms: [1] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRaaYMwYbMc&t=674), [2] (https://pep-web.org/search/document/PAQ.028.0307A), [3] (https://genius.com/Sigmund-freud-civilization-and-its-discontents-chap-4-annotated)1. Bipedalism and the Decline of SmellWhen early human ancestors transitioned to an upright posture (bipedalism), their primary sensory orientation shifted away from the ground. Quadrupedal animals live in a sensory world dominated by olfaction (smelling tracking scents, excrement, and pheromones on the earth). By standing tall, the human head was lifted into the air, making vision the paramount sense while the importance of olfactory stimuli drastically decreased. [1] (https://www.david-howes.com/senses/freudsnose.html), [2] (https://www.encyclopedia.com/psychology/dictionaries-thesauruses-pictures-and-press-releases/smell-sense), [3] (https://genius.com/Sigmund-freud-civilization-and-its-discontents-chap-4-annotated)2.

The Shift from Immediate Impulse to Repression

For animals, strong olfactory cues—especially those tied to mating, menstruation, and waste—trigger immediate, automatic behavioral responses. Freud argued that because odors bypass conscious reflection, an animal cannot easily ignore a scent; it must act on its instinct. [1] (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12203381/), [2] (https://www.mdpi.com/2075-1729/16/1/86), [3] (https://www.encyclopedia.com/psychology/dictionaries-thesauruses-pictures-and-press-releases/smell-sense)

-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said...

However, as vision replaced smell, those intense, proximity-based bodily odors became associated with shame and disgust rather than automatic attraction. This triggered what Freud termed "organic repression". Instead of immediately acting out an instinctual drive based on a passing scent, the human psyche learned to bury, redirect, or delay the impulse. [1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilization_and_Its_Discontents), [2] (https://www.encyclopedia.com/psychology/dictionaries-thesauruses-pictures-and-press-releases/smell-sense), [3] (https://genius.com/Sigmund-freud-civilization-and-its-discontents-chap-4-annotated), [4] (https://pep-web.org/search/document/PAQ.028.0307A)3.

How Repression Created Planning and Civilization

By learning to repress immediate animalistic desires (the Pleasure Principle), the human mind developed the capability to operate under the Reality Principle. Freud argued that this newly unlocked capacity to delay gratification is the exact foundation of human planning and civilization: [1] (https://pressbooks.cuny.edu/philosophyashorthistory3/chapter/__unknown__-5/), [2] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilization_and_Its_Discontents)

Time-Independent Thinking: Because visual and abstract stimuli could be processed, rationalized, and put off, humans were no longer trapped by the immediate "now" of a sensory smell. [1] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilization_and_Its_Discontents)

Founding of the Family: In animals, sexual excitation is cyclical and bound to periodic scent triggers. Freud theorized that because humans repressed these scent triggers, sexual excitation became constant and visual, leading to permanent partner bonds and the founding of organized families. [1] (https://genius.com/Sigmund-freud-civilization-and-its-discontents-chap-4-annotated)Cleanliness and Order: The cultural drive toward cleanliness and hygiene stems directly from the organic repression of anal-olfactory pleasures, transforming primitive impulses into structured, planned societal order. [1] (https://pep-web.org/search/document/PAQ.028.0307A)In essence, Freud believed that by lifting our noses off the ground, we broke the cycle of immediate biological reaction, giving birth to the internal mental space required to project, organize, and plan for the future.

The Buddha’s Parable of the Raft warns against self-deception by showing that even useful teachings must be left behind once they serve their purpose, rather than clung to as absolute truths. [1] (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iCB9jiyErtE), [2] (https://canadiancor.com/buddhism-and-self-deception/)The Parable of the Raft

The Crossing: A traveler reaches a wild, dangerous river and builds a raft from branches and leaves to cross safely to the secure other shore. [1] (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iCB9jiyErtE)

The Release: Once across, the Buddha asks if the man should carry the heavy raft on his back as he continues his journey. The man answers no; he must leave it behind. [1] (https://www.facebook.com/GretchenRubin/posts/a-famous-buddhist-teaching-story-the-parable-of-the-raft/1316806206474545/), [2] (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iCB9jiyErtE)

The Meaning: The raft represents the Dharma (the Buddha's teachings). The teachings are meant for crossing over suffering, not for holding onto as dogmatic identities or permanent possessions. [1] (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/iCB9jiyErtE)

The Danger of Self-Deception

Clinging to Concepts: Mistaking the tool (the raft) for the ultimate reality is a form of self-deception. Clinging to spiritual concepts as if they are the truth itself traps the mind. Conventional vs. Ultimate Truth: Buddhism notes that while we intellectually know things are impermanent, our emotional self-deception attaches us to conventional ideas like a permanent "self". True Freedom: Real awakening requires relinquishing even the conceptual framework that helped you arrive, remaining empty of fixed views and open to reality
